          • Change comes from assurance.

Joseph of Arimathea was a follower of Jesus. However he was afraid of the Jews and so hid his faith. But his mind changed as he saw Jesus die on the cross.
He realised that following Jesus was more valuable than to be comfortable in life. Without fear of revealing his faith, he went to Pilate and demanded the body of Jesus and buried Jesus in his grave.

Nicodemus also brought back a mixture of myrrh and aloes for the burial of Jesus. Nicodemus met Jesus before but he did not understand Him completely. So he did not get close to Jesus back then. But Nicodemus came back to see Jesus’ death on the cross.

Change cannot be forced. It can only happen when there is a true conviction, assurance of what is truly valuable to that person.

Change is not from effort but from assurance. When you are confident that that’s the most valuable thing in life, the person will change.

            Passage: John 19:31-41
36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”
37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”
38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.
