At the time of Isaiah the city of Tyre was consumed by their appearance, wealth and power and forgot about the creator God. Eventually, God humbled those who followed after the worldly wealth and glory. God’s people should not be expectant of the shining crown of the world but be hopeful in receiving the crown of glory. We should remember we live for the kingdom and righteousness of God.
Isaiah 23:1-18
8 Who planned this against Tyre,
the bestower of crowns,
whose merchants are princes,
whose traders are renowned in the earth?
9 The Lord Almighty planned it,
to bring down her pride in all her splendor
and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.
