The motto of the House Church is “Let’s do it the way the Bible says.” The House Church itself is not the goal. Rather, the New Testament church showed the greatest life and vitality when it gathered in homes, centred on lay believers. Today, as churches have become centred on pastors and buildings and increasingly ritualised, they have drifted far from the New Testament church. That is why the motto of the House Church movement is to do church the way the New Testament church did.
If the House Church is a biblical church, it should bear fruit just as the New Testament church did. If the following three fruits appear, we can say we are recovering the likeness of the New Testament church.
First, souls are continually saved. Saving souls and making disciples, the Lord’s Great Commission and the very reason the church exists, must keep happening. When souls are saved, the number of those baptised keeps growing, and people keep committing themselves as the Lord’s disciples, that is a biblical church.
Second, believers’ lives keep being transformed. Believers lose strength in church because of a formal, consumer-style faith. But when lives are continually changed and people keep committing themselves, positively and actively, to God’s kingdom and his righteousness, that is a biblical church.
Third, there is joy in the life of faith. Serving is hard and requires sacrifice, but within it lies the joy of saving souls and the joy of the life of faith. When more and more unbelievers see this and say, “I want to live like that too,” that is a biblical church.
We believe the House Church is a biblical church because these three fruits are appearing: souls saved, lives changed, and joy in the life of faith.

Thank you to all who took part in the 958th Seminar to the end, and to all who served as shepherds, shepherds’ wives and co-workers. May you be greatly used in your churches to build the church the Lord longs for.
