Every believer in Jesus says they know God. Yet having a long history of faith does not necessarily mean knowing God deeply. The Bible calls us to know God more.
The first reason we must know God more is that knowing God is eternal life. Jesus said, "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3). Faith is not simply attending church or fulfilling religious obligations — it is a life of entering into a personal relationship with God and growing in the knowledge of Him.
The second reason is that we can only trust God to the extent that we know Him. We do not easily trust people we do not know. The more deeply we know God's character, love, and faithfulness, the more we lean on Him even in difficult circumstances. Faith is not forced — it grows through the process of knowing God.
The third reason is that the more we know God, the more our lives are transformed. God is holy. As we draw near to Him through His Word, our thoughts, values, and attitudes change. Spiritual maturity is not measured by an increase in knowledge, but by the transformation of becoming more like God. Even in the busyness of daily life, may we grow in knowing Him through His Word, prayer, and worship.
Let us not forget those who are sick in our church, and earnestly pray for them by name. Our prayers are a great comfort to them and a channel of God's healing. "Pray for one another so that you may be healed." (James 5:16)
