          • The Blessings of House Church

There are so many blessings I have received through House Church. If I were to name just one, I would without hesitation choose the 'next generation.' When we first started House Church, the first generation barely knew what a house church was — it seems they began simply by imitating it, with a heart of obedience because their pastor encouraged them to. Those who had only ever attended Crystal Church thought this was simply what church looked like, while those who had already experienced traditional church life could be seen reluctantly going along, as if wearing clothes that didn't quite fit.
Even so, the house church meetings continued without fail, and in the midst of it all, the young children grew up watching their parents serve. Because there were no structured programs or training like there are today, at the time we had no choice but to let them roam freely, applying only the most basic guidelines.
Not long ago, I had a conversation with a young man who was multiplying out from the singles house church, and he said this: "For us, house church meetings are life. We have never imagined a life without house church meetings." For the next generation, house church has quietly become their way of life. I was truly grateful that house church had become the natural rhythm of their faith.
There are still first-generation house church members who view serving as a sacrifice, or say it feels like too much. It may be due to the framework of faith life they formed before, or simply because life itself as immigrants settling in a new land is exhausting. Yet the next-generation shepherds say, "House church is our life, and serving is our joy."
There are many voices of concern about the future of the church. But as I look at our single young adults today, I see the future of the church — because I have seen those who once struggled with identity as children of immigrants now rising as people of mission, embracing all peoples. Because I have seen young people who once worried about their uncertain futures now shedding tears for the salvation of a single soul.
I believe all of this is the fruit of service planted by the first-generation parents, who lived out biblical lives to the very end and obeyed the Word — even through weariness and pain. And so, however difficult it may be, the first generation must remain an example of faith until the very last.

            Word of the week
Next Sunday, on the last Sunday of the month, there will be a Receiving Jesus Meeting. For those who have been putting off accepting Jesus, or those who are uncertain of their salvation, please do not delay — come and participate, so that you may live your faith in a healthy relationship with God.
