          • What Is More Important Than Things Going Well

Over the past week, I went through a season in which I could not speak freely. Due to laryngitis, I completely lost my voice and faced a situation where I could not even preach from the pulpit. (Thanks to your prayers, I have recovered significantly. I sincerely thank you.)
By chance, I watched a short video. It told the story of a restaurant owner who was struggling because there were no customers. As he stood looking at his empty restaurant, the choice he made was to quietly go into a corner of the kitchen, kneel down, and pray. Remarkably, after that prayer, the restaurant began to fill with customers. However, the focus of the video was not the result—“he prayed, and customers came.” Rather, it emphasised that at the very moment the owner knelt down, it became clear who the true owner of that restaurant was.
Through that short video, I was led to reflect on myself—on who truly is the owner of my life as a pastor who preaches and ministers. I was reminded once again that if God causes me to stop, I am someone who can do nothing on my own. More important than preaching well by my own wisdom and imparting grace is discovering what God desires and becoming a “channel” that conveys His heart as it is. More important than doing things well is that moment when I confess who my true Master is.
What about you? Are you feeling frustrated because things are not going the way you hoped? Or have all your plans come to a halt because of something unexpected? That place of stopping may actually become the most precious time to surrender sovereignty to God. When our own will and efforts reach their limits, I believe that is when God’s work truly begins. What God desires is not first that we succeed, but that we confess before Him, “Lord, You alone are the Master of my life.” This coming week, I hope that you and I will be those who first go before God on our knees, before the One who is the sovereign Lord of our lives.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

            Word of the week
Today is the Sunday for the Recommitment service for deputy deacons. Those who are reaffirming their commitment as lay deacons, as well as those who wish to commit as new deputy deacons, are asked to complete an application form and place it in the ministry application box.
