Three Elements for a Joyful Christian Life
What is needed to live a joyful Christian life? Last week at the Singles Camp, we reflected on the life of the Apostle Paul and discussed how, despite his extremely difficult circumstances, he couldn't help but be joyful. Let’s take another look at the key points we shared.
First is Love. We are happiest when we are loved and when we love others. The Apostle Paul said,
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38–39). Paul confessed this unbreakable love, and such a person cannot help but be joyful. When we also have the faith that the Almighty God loves us, we can be joyful no matter what circumstances we face.
Second is Dedication. We experience deep happiness when we commit ourselves to meaningful and worthwhile work. When we are doing something truly valuable, even staying up all night to serve, brings joy rather than weariness. So, what is the most valuable work? There is nothing more valuable than saving lives. The reason Paul couldn't help but be joyful was because he dedicated his entire life to the work of saving souls.
Third is Hope. The reason many people are unhappy is that they lack true hope. The hopes of this world often disappoint. Many pursue material success or fulfillment as life goals, but even when they achieve those things, the joy tends to fade quickly. The end of those who have lived chasing empty hopes is inevitably one of emptiness. But we have a hope that never disappoints—the eternal kingdom of God. We are people who hold onto that hope.
So, there is no need to despair just because things are difficult right now. There’s no reason to envy those who don’t believe in Jesus, even if they seem successful for a moment—because they don’t have eternal hope.
God has given us, who believe, every reason to live truly joyful lives. I hope we never forget these three elements and continue to live in true happiness.
Word of the week
Church construction is ongoing. For the safety of our children, we need everyone’s attention and care—not just from parents, but from the whole congregation.
Additionally, parking inside the church premises is reserved only for ministry-related needs and for our elderly members.
