To purchase an additional church property (1)
For a while now, we have been praying about purchasing an additional property for the church. The need for additional space was greatly increased when we continued to experience difficulties due to the lack of parking space, education and meeting rooms, and toilets. A Construction Committee (led by Shepherd Jacob Kim) was delegated with conducting research and to plan construction to begin behind the existing church space. However, the Churches of Christ advised it would be better instead for the church to purchase an additional property nearby and the Committee agreed it would be better to purchase an additional property. With the consent from shepherds at the All Shepherds’ Meeting, we have continued to analyse this.
There are two possible locations for the purchase of an additional property. One is 33 John St, Granville (1,444 m², 2-bedroom old house, R2 zone) and the owner is willing to sell it for $1.7 million. The other property is the property attached to the back of our church: 14 Elizabeth St, Granville (1,066 m², 4-bedroom house), which would be the best location, but the owner showed no interest in selling it for $1.4 million, and is asking for $1.6 million.
In the meantime, we have prepared about $400,000 through our Vision Construction Offering and we have received approval for a loan from the Churches of Christ to purchase a building. Of course, additional finance will be needed to reduce the amount of repayment. We have been striving with the vision of making disciples by saving the lost. Even now, I want to be a pastor who saves lives rather than pouring energy into maintaining and operating the church. However, our church is too cramped and there is a growing need to purchase an additional site. I think now is the time to purchase a property for the future of our church.
We are now praying for God's guidance in purchasing the additional property we need. Please also pray that God will lead us to find an additional site and that the purchase process and all necessary finances will be smoothly prepared.
