          • A positive strategy
A few years ago I read an article about how to save the lawn. It was a story that, when the grass keeps dying because of weeds, you can save its life by giving the grass food it needs rather than pulling out the weeds.
Jesus said something similar. The disciple saw the wheat and weeds growing together in the field and said that he would pluck out the weeds. Basically, the weeds needed to be pulled out. However, Jesus told the disciple to leave it alone as it could cause injury to the wheat or even be uprooted while pulling the weeds. It was said that if the weeds were left alone, they grew better and was harvested on time. (Matt 13:24-30). In the end, Jesus was saying that we should follow a positive strategy.
The world we live in is full of negative strategies. It hurts my heart to see that they are desparately trying to pull each other down like the crabs in the sea, even though they can’t even jump over each other.
There was a foreign reporter who said, while looking at Koreans, that there was a strong negative DNA in Koreans, and I think it is true to some extent. This is because historically, we have continued to bite others, and it is still in progress. A good example is the slandering towards the other candidates ahead of the South Korean presidential election. Now that Korea has become one of the world’s top 10 economic powers, if we have a little more patience and applaud the opponent for doing well, the result will be great when we praise others’ good sides or positive strengths.
Now we are at a time when we need a positive strategy. A person who criticises only to point out other people’s weaknesses will end up biting into them. And the opponents will not just watch. Negative strategies only hurt each other and both the winners and losers will end up being losers.
