          • The purpose of testimony

Some say that the Sunday service is a time of grace and challenge because of the testimonies. We all experience God's grace when those who have accepted Jesus give a testimony, and also through testimonies of those who have completed a Life Class or have become a mokjang leader, or those whose prayers were answered or want to share their gratitude with their ministries.
Those who have accepted Jesus give a testimony about salvation and the reason we ask them to do this is to confess their salvation in front of others. When people give a testimony it gives them an opportunity to think about their faith and to have more certainty of their salvation. It also allows them to publicly thank those who have served them thus far, and it can also be rewarding for those that have served them.
Testimonies are a confession of one’s life. A testimony of one’s life that is shared plainly and with sincerity can be touching. People are reluctant to talk about their life failures or faults because they are afraid of what others may think of them. However, at church, our past mistakes and failures aren't something to be ashamed of. It’s what makes us, and it’s who we were before we believed in Jesus. We have been transformed through Jesus, so our past failures and mistakes are not a disgrace, rather the members of the church see God’s grace through it.
Testimonies of how our lives have been transformed allow us to honestly talk about our lives in the dark before meeting Jesus, and our life's pains. Testimonies of repentance, of joy of being forgiven, of internal changes, are all touching confessions. They help people recognise what a great blessing and grace it is to know Jesus.
And it can motivate unbelievers to open up their hearts to Jesus. Giving a testimony is a part of spiritual training.
It not only benefits the speaker, but it also touches the audience and it is also a way of boasting God and glorifying Him. This is the reason we give testimonies.
