We are all born without an ego, and it gradually develops as we grow, like layers of the onion skin. When someone hurts our ego, we try to protect it as if we were trying to protect something extremely valuable. But when we peel off our ego, it’s hollow inside, just as there is nothing inside an onion once the skin’s removed. In fact, when we’re old enough to learn to let go of our ego, all we are left with is emptiness. And the moment we realise how much we’ve struggled just to hold onto our ego, it’s time to leave the world.
Our ego is like a prison keeping us trapped, and it’s a negative notion that makes us feel insignificant.
When we let go of our ego that keeps us trapped, we will gain more time and opportunities. We will be able to meet people and do things we couldn't do because of our ego. When we let go of our ego, we will be able to smile more and worry less, and we will be able to see how much there is in the world to smile about than we ever imagined. When we let go of our ego, more people will come into our lives and we will be able to enjoy their company.
Therefore, the best thing to do is to avoid building relationships that cause us to hold onto our ego. Letting go of our ego when necessary is the secret to having a broader view of the world. A happy life of faith also depends on how much I’ve let go of my ego and my self-pride.
Let us remember once again, “our flowers of self-pride must fall in order to reap fruits of faith.”
This week's message: When it comes to church ministries and meetings, it's important we humbly focus on God's will rather than insisting on our own opinions. When everyone seeks God’s will, we will become more harmonious.
