          • Let’s take 'Life of Reverence' class

Life of Reverence is opening soon and not many people have applied for the class. Life of Reverence is a mandatory class that everyone will eventually have to take. Mokjang leaders in particular should ensure they take the class before their mokjang members. Those who have completed Living Life, Life of Assurance and New Life can take Life of Reverence, and this is followed by Experiencing God in Life, which once completed, you then become an official mokjang leader.
I’d like to briefly explain what Life of Reverence, created by Pastor Choi Younggi, is about.
The church tells us to pray, to come to church, to serve others etc. but doesn’t specifically tell us why or how we should do it. This is where Life of Reverence comes in. This class has three goals to achieve: (1) Practice being reverent (2) experience internal restoration, (3) create a habit of being reverent.
In order to achieve the first goal of being reverent, we learn and practice biblical evidence and specific ways of 13 acts of reverence including praying, worshiping, meditating, fasting, and serving.
For the second goal of internal healing, we practice exposing our internal feelings. During sharing time, any logical or textbook comments are banned and we freely share our thoughts and feelings through testimonials and questions. We are paired in twos to pray for one another for our scarred hearts to be healed.
The third goal, which is to develop a reverent habit is achieved through targeting one area of our daily habits we wish to change. Also, in order to ensure that ‘love’ does not become an abstract idea, we are given an assignment to be kind to our neighbours, and to keep a record of our actions. We also practice listening to God’s voice through taking notes when doing daily devotionals.
Mokjang gatherings are a carbon copy of this reverent life, and hence the reason why we experience transformation, internal healing, and develop a habit of reverence, through our mokjangs.

            This week’s message
Let us write down five things we are grateful for every day. The opposite of ‘gratitude’ is to ‘take things for granted’. Nothing in this world should be taken for granted. Let us live a joyful life by starting to appreciate the things we have been taking for granted.
