English speaking congregation and 2nd service congregation’s joint service
Last Sunday, our English speaking congregation and the second service had a joint service. The English speaking congregation led praise and worship and the program was carried out in English with Korean interpreting. I kindly ask for everyone’s understanding of the inconvenience caused by the lack of preparation for the joint service.
We received feedback from both sides in regards to the service and it was mostly positive. The English speaking congregation is a small group, so they enjoyed having more people in the service, and it was a good opportunity for them to see the direction the ESC was headed. It was especially a special time for those who are in the same mokjang but had been attending different services.
Although the translated sermon can be a bit frustrating for me, I personally liked the fact that despite the different languages spoken, we were able to become one and share our hearts. If we were to have the joint service more regularly, we would need to consider a few things, such as if our praise and worship was all in English but we have people who don’t speak English; the need for English subtitles in our video announcements; combining the praise and worship team, etc.
Most agreed on having a joint service more regularly but we will need to decide on how frequently it will take place due to the difference of opinions received. For the time being, joint service will take place based on our needs rather than on fixed days. As a family under the same roof, understanding each others’ needs is crucial for the English speaking congregation and our second service congregation, and I ask for everyone’s prayer and cooperation in creating a synergistic effect for the future and growth of Sydney Crystal Church.
This week’s message:
In order to become a soul saving mokjang, you must have a VIP list all members of the mokjang pray for. Soul salvation is not possible without prayer, and VIPs are not those who I feel comfortable serving but those that need the Lord, and someone you feel needs a mokjang.
