It has now been over a year since Sydney Crystal Church started the English service (ESC) last February. Thanks to those who have shown their utmost commitment, we now have three mokjangs and a weekly service. Despite their best effort, there are still challenges that remain, very much like building a new church. Therefore, we have two ideas we’d like to implement.
First, I will be participating more frequently (three times a month). As a first generation pastor my English is limited and I won’t be able to be fully involved but for the time being, our English team needs the leadership of the head pastor. Until we are able to find a minister for the English service, I ask for understanding and patience of those attending the afternoon service. The kind of minister we are currently looking for is someone who not only speaks English but understands the House church mindset and is also skillful in culturally communicating with the first and second generation. We are eagerly praying as we seek the right person.
Second is reviving the English service. The service is nothing like our first and second service because of its small size, however, with a little more effort from everyone I am confident the service will be just as powerful and graceful. Anyone attending the morning service that wishes to volunteer in the praise and worship team or the media team, or would like to join us in prayer in the English service are more than welcome.
Third is mokjang and life classes. We currently have three mokjangs in the ESC chowon, led by Yang Yoontaek mokja. Since everyone is from different chowons it will take time to get to know each other but I am hopeful of its success. As for the life classes, Living Life and Accepting Jesus Meeting are led by Yang Yoontaek mokja and we will open up other classes with new instructors.
Once our English Service has a strong foundation with the three axes- service, mokjang and life class, we will become an exemplary church that plays an important role in guiding the next generation with language barriers in the right direction, and saving souls of all nations and making disciples.
This week’s message
Children’s blessing time will only take place during 2nd service and English service starting this week. During Wednesday service, children will learn how to pray. We ask for all parents’ interest.
