I have recently been thinking about how people leave as soon as the service ends. I have noticed people rushing out as if they couldn’t wait to leave. There may be different reasons for this, one of them possibly being to avoid standing in a long queue for lunch in the hot weather and also to get a table. One speculation led to another, and I started wondering if people actually preferred sitting at the back so they could leave quickly, but I would like to think that this isn’t the case. However, this must change.
Our lives change when we respond to God’s message through determination, hence the dedication time at the conclusion of service. We are more than likely to lead a life ‘disconnected from our faith’ if we were only emotionally touched by the message without a conscious determination to put into action what we have learned. It’s essential that we stay for a few minutes after service to ponder upon and pray about the day’s message.
I ask everyone to please do the following:
First, please be on time for service and fill the seats from the front. Praise and worship commences five minutes before service.
Secondly, take part in service by responding. Sing loudly, respond to prayer and message by saying ‘Amen’.
Thirdly, please do not leave right away but stay in your seat for five minutes and pray. When you are at the front with your dedication card, wait for your turn by praying on your own.
Please allow lunch to be first served to those who must leave early for their ministries, for the elders, and new visitors. If you have children in Sunday school, please collect them first before getting your lunch. I also suggest waiting at your table with your mokjang members if the line is too long.
This week’s message
“Rather than leaving the moment the service ends, please stay in your seat and pray for at least five minutes.”
