One of the reasons the church has become weak is because there are more leaders that rule, rather than leaders that serve. Therefore, one of the core values of the house church is restoring leadership. Serving gives you spiritual authority. There are mokjang leaders who may have weaker faith, are younger, have lower level of education or social status than their mokjang members but are great leaders, and this is because their leadership is based on serving others.
Mokjang leaders that serve well lead better mokjang meetings and their authority is established.
There are unbelievers that take advantage of the kindness of their mokjang leaders. Despite this, however, we must continue to serve them. They will eventually see Jesus’ love and be touched. There are also people who, after having accepted Jesus, are self-centered, but we must still serve them. They will learn and mature through consistent service.
There are however people who must be challenged rather than served. They are people who have been going to church for a long time. In one instance, when a church was changing over to a house church, one of the church members who even had a title gave their mokja and moknyo a hard time, saying,“If mokjang leaders are supposed to serve, let’s see how well you serve me!” People with this attitude must be dealt with firmly. They must be challenged to be transformed. Even if they threaten to leave the church, we must teach them.
The purpose of a church is to save lost souls and make them disciples. People who have been going to church for a long time does not necessarily have to become a mokjang leader but they must cooperate with their mokjang to save lost souls. But if they continue to expect to be served, they will remain spiritual infants and the mokjang will fail to make disciples.

This week’s message
“Next week is Ministry dedication Sunday. Please pray about the kinds of ministries and volunteer work you wish to commit to in 2019 within the church and your mokjang before coming to church next week.”
