As a child, I had always had a longing for train rides. I have memories of taking the train to the countryside with my family and there was never enough room with all the luggage but the idea of going somewhere on the train got me excited. The scenery through the window was great and the taste of boiled eggs, dried squid and peanuts sold on the train was incomparable.
I think our lives also is like a journey on a train. Various people take the train with hopes and expectations. Just as the scenery we see outside the window keeps changing, so do our lives. If the scenery remained the same, we would have been bored.
Like our lives, the train can run smoothly for a while before having to go up steep mountains and hills. We also have moments of despair as if we were passing a dark tunnel, but when it’s all over, we realise they are all happy memories God has allowed in our lives.
Before we arrive at our destination, some will get off at Failure Station, Disease Station, Complain Station, etc. Some may have a first class seat, some business class, and others may even have to stand, causing them to complain. It doesn’t matter if we don’t get a first classs seat, it’s okay if our seats are a little uncomfortable or if we don’t get a seat at all. The destination of our lives are all the same. All we need is for Jesus to be the head and for our final destination to be heaven.
It’s been a joyful year of traveling with you all. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
This week’s message
This week is Christmas week. Let us celebrate the Christmas culture the right way by making it all about Jesus. As we enjoy the holiday, let us ensure that the joy of the birth of Jesus is not spoiled by worldly cultures of debauchery and drunkenness.
