We are having our Thanksgiving and the church’s 41st anniversary service next week. We have always celebrated Thanksgiving in the Chuseok month (September) and the reason we have delayed it to November is because we had our house church seminar for laypeople in Chuseok week this year. And we also thought it would be more efficient to combine the service for Thanksgiving and the church anniversary rather than having two consecutive thanksgiving services.
In the lead up to the Thanksgiving and the anniversary service, I’d like to suggest preparing for it by reminding ourselves of the grace of God that had been allowed upon our church, family and in the workplace in the past year, and also by doing the following:
First, please prepare a thanksgiving offering. Each year, our thanksgiving offerings had gone to missionaries but this year, we’d like to give it to missionaries and as well as those in need.
Secondly, please bring fruit, vegetables or grains so we can all participate in the Thanksgiving service, and place them in the front of the chapel so they can be displayed during service. Please ensure to come extra early so they can all be displayed prior to service time.
Thirdly, please invite your VIPs. We will prepare more food for our after-service lunch so we can enjoy it with our VIPs.
Lastly, if anyone would like to do a special thanksgiving song during service please let us know. This can be done as an individual or mokjang.
Gratitude is acknowledging God as the owner of my life and thanking Him for His guidance as well as the blessings and grace He has in store for the future.
With anticipation for an abundance of gratitude next week…
This week’s message
Dedication does not mean living a holy life but dedicating our lives to Jesus despite our shortcomings, and thus being led to live a holy life. Let us strive to experience a transformation by dedicating our lives specifically for God.
