In building a church, delegating ministries is an effective way to share the workload and produce results. Those who are given a task should carry it out with a sense of responsibility in order to maintain order in the church. However, one thing we need to be aware of is that once roles are delegated people tend to focus on their ministry and become selfish. Their ministry becomes their priority and they can start competing with other ministries. A beautiful ministry is made when we look at the big picture of building a church together and help each other.
This is the same for mokjangs. Recently a mokjang had a new member join them but when they realized that another mokjang would be more beneficial in helping the new member’s faith grow, they decided to have the member transfer to another mokjang. This was a wise and beautiful decision from the mokjang to focus on saving souls and helping them develop their faith, rather than holding on to the person so their mokjang would grow.
When it comes to faith, we mustn’t focus only on our needs. We mustn’t focus on the ministry that we want to do, but consider what the church needs from us. Even if the ministry seems irrelevant, we need to look at the big picture and help out where our help is required. This is the attitude of a true christian.
People don’t like selfish people, they like those who are sacrificial. You will find that those who willingly sacrifice themselves will always have people around them. Ultimately, self-sacrifice leads to a full and happy life.
