One thing house churches have in common is that there are a lot of testimonies. Our church has recently also had more people giving testimonies, and I would like to share a few tips with them. A testimony is simply boasting in our God. It is boasting about the grace he has poured upon us, therefore if you have received grace from God, you need to share it with others. A testimony is usually divided into three parts. Your life before God’s grace, how you received his grace, and your life after.
The first part, your life before experiencing God’s grace, should be kept short and simple. Try to stick to the testimony subject and give real life examples rather than abstract ideas.
The second part of the testimony of how you received God’s grace should also be specific so that those listening can also apply your experience in their own lives. Your testimony should focus on how you would answer the following question: “How do I receive the same grace?”
The final part, how you have changed after experiencing God’s grace needs to be in comparison with your life before. Give a specific example of the biggest change you have experienced through God’s grace.
The testimony should be no longer than seven minutes. First, write out everything you want to share regardless of how long it is. Then, practice reading your testimony and cut it down to seven minutes, removing less important details. When giving your testimony, please refrain from saying “I didn’t want to stand here today…” When reading from a script, please ensure you have it printed on paper or use a tablet PC rather than reading from your phone. Reading from your phone prevents you from looking up and your message being delivered clearly to the audience.

We will have a big clean up day at Granville this Saturday after the dawn service. Please participate in helping the church become cleaner and nicer for the upcoming "Seminar for lay people".
