Having a community spirit to work together on important things
I participated in a house church training course hosted by Disciple Church in Cheonan (Pastor Shim Youngchoon), and want to thank everyone who supported me in prayer. One thing I realized that made Disciple Church so great was their ‘community spirit to work together on important things’. When the church has something important coming up such as the church’s vision, an event or celebration etc, every member of the church, led by the pastor, takes part and experiences the joy and happiness that comes with it. I saw how powerful a church can become when everyone unites as one and the team spirit is lifted.
I realized that when a church prioritizes individual circumstances and opinions, it’s not able to do great works. It may be good for the individuals, but the church loses power as a community. Faith is about breaking your ego and obeying, and through this, growing.
I’d like to share my thoughts on opening your mokjangs in this year’s house church seminar for lay people. If only certain people open their homes to our guests, this event could continue to remain passive. Lay people’s house church seminar isn’t easy for us as hosts but it is an opportunity for every mokjang to serve others and to experience joy of serving and sharing, and ultimately the blessings will fall on us. Therefore, I urge everyone to actively participate unless there are special circumstances that stop you from doing so. When everyone participates, we will be able to experience the joy and blessings through the seminar.
Should you have unavoidable circumstances that prevent you from opening your mokjang, please let us know and we can find other ways for you to be a part of the event.
