We are sending our very first lay person missionaries Jung Hyunwook and Kang Hyunok (and Yulie) as professional missionaries to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Their focus will be on medical and educational ministries and discipleship training for the locals.
I am confident that sending missionaries is a great blessing for the church. Jung Hyunwook and Kang Hyunok have been attending Sydney Crystal Church and training their faiths here, and they are so faithful and committed that they have been driving 2 hours each way from home to come to church.
Jung Hyunwook is a podiatry physician and his wife Kang Hyunok is a registered nurse, both having socially respected careers. When they first told me of their decision to leave as missionaries, my first reaction was sadness, that I will no longer be able to see them every week and I’m sure the sadness was greater for their spiritual family, Papua New Guinea Mokjang. However, once I was confident of God's plans to use them, I felt overflowing joy and glory. And God reassured me that this would be an opportunity for his blessing for the church as well.
Having witnessed their faithful and dedicated lives, I am sure of God's plans to show their true worth as he uses them as his tools in their mission field. As sister Hyunok had said in her testimony about the Australian missionary McKenzie who built Ilshin Christian hospital in Korea, I can’t wait to see them fulfilling their calling in Cambodia and taking part in God’s work as history makers.
Missionary work is Jesus’ Great Commission and it is not to be done alone but everyone in the church must be involved, and I ask everyone at Sydney Crystal Church to happily take part by praying for them and supporting them financially.
