A 'House church' movement is a movement of churches to recover the New Testament Church. Churches are making waves for the fundamental calling of the church to "save lost souls and make disciples of them". The 26th Mokja Conference held in Oceania titled 'God's people in the world' will have around 170 mokjang leaders attending from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, New Zealand, China, South Africa, America, etc.
I grew up with the vision to become a pastor but didn’t have the confidence to do ministry. Despite having studied theology for 12 years, seeing so many pastors ministering in immigrant churches go through despair and even putting their children through pain and suffering discouraged me even more. I also wasn't convinced that starting a new church was necessary when there were so many already existing. However, after learning that 'the new testament church was a house church' and that 'lay people are the heart of ministry’, my heart skipped a beat and 17 years ago, I started a church of my own. It was extremely difficult at the beginning, and I remember crying a lot. I knew which direction I needed to go with a house church but I didn't have anyone to coach me on how to get there. And one day I attended a 'House church seminar for leaders' and I was ecstatic. I learned exactly what ministry was and what I had to do. Since then, I started attending conferences for leaders twice a year and started applying what I had learned. I witnessed numerous pastors focusing not on the growth of the church but on recovering the biblical church, and going beyond religion and theology, beyond leaders and lay people, and continuing to learn and improve. I was deeply moved every time I participated.
And now, our lay people of Crystal Church who are walking together towards Jesus’ great commission are being moved by their experiences. The first time I saw this was at the ‘Lay people’s seminar’ and we continue this experience through ‘Lay people’s conference. I anticipate to see everyone participating to have confidence in the biblical church.
