          • Those who do not break down

“Do not break down” (by Kim Nam Gook) is a recently released book that I’m looking forward to reading. I haven’t bought it yet and have only seen the title and read the preface, but it has already captured my attention.
Why do so many Christians fall for money, sex and power?
God said that he “formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Gen. 2:7) In other words, he breathed life, spirit- into our body. This means that if our body breaks down, we are not able to have spirit in us, as our body is where the spirit is stored.
Many believers lead a broken life throughout the week, like remnants, and they come to church on Sunday hoping for spiritual restoration. However, it’s hard to store spirit in a broken body (or life).
With God’s grace it may be possible but it is extremely difficult for someone who is sexually broken down to experience God’s presence. Those whose relationships are broken won’t be able to appreciate the Sunday service, and if one’s greed for money and the worldly things have taken over their hearts, they won’t be able to commit themselves to God. This phenomenon separates faith and life and causes people to believe only with their lips and mind, not with their heart, and they become abstract believers.
Why is it that once you are in this state, you are unable to restore your spirit? What can we do then, to experience restoration?
We need to make our bodies healthy enough to store the spirit. We need to live according to Christian standards so that we don’t break down spiritually and fight for righteousness.
If you are constantly faced with financial difficulty, just praying and believing that God will help you is not faith. Faith is when you work hard and live a frugal life. If your relationship with someone has broken, simply coming to service is not going to restore it. You need to do your part in trying to mend it by living a life of worship.
God will bless those who do not fall, and will fill their souls with God’s spirit. “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 12:1)
