One thing I learned through Pastor Shim Yong Choon’s ministry was that in order to become a happy church and to have a happy life of faith, we must have a happy atmosphere. But a happy atmosphere does not exist naturally; it has to be created. I have summarized three things we need to do in order to have a happy christian life.
First of all, rather than focusing on our own happiness, we must try and make others happy. Those whose focus is on their own happiness subconsciously act and speak in a self-centered way. This is because they only pay attention to their own happiness. On the other hand, those who genuinely want to make others happy show it in their facial expressions and the way they speak. Ultimately, they become happy themselves, by trying to make others happy.
Secondly, find something positive in every situation. Believers should not rely on their circumstances and conditions in order to be happy. They should have trust and faith in God in any given situation. And this optimistic faith allows you to have a happy christian life. So rather than waiting for God’s grace to come upon us during service, w need to become more responsive by saying ‘amen’, laughing, and clapping. When you see that the church is in need of help, be more proactive in helping and sacrificing yourselves. Help and support your mokjas and moknyos. You will definitely become more happy.
Lastly, those who are genuinely happy do things that are worthwhile. If you feel something is worthy of your time and energy, why would you hesitate? Allow yourself to do it. The most valuable thing a Christian can do is to join in Jesus’ desire to save lost souls and make disciples of them. Many people realize its importance and value yet they hesitate because they fear that it will be too hard for them. But I would like to tell them that anything that is fun and brings joy comes with a price.
When you are proactive, you will experience a happy life of faith.
