It takes a long time for a person to transform into a Christian disciple. You can become a churchgoer just by attending church, but it takes a lot more to live a transformed life of a Christian. House churches make it possible for you to become a sound Christian through addressing the three human capacities, and to be transformed.
1. The weekly mokjang meeting nurtures your emotions. Everyone needs a place where they can open up and talk. Initially, you will experience happiness being a part of a spiritual family in a mokjang. Eventually, however, you will face disappointment and discontent with one other, and most people in this situation will try to avoid it by simply leaving their mokjang. However, you will only experience transformation if you overcome this phase. Everyone has darkness deeply rooted within them and it needs to be healed. Without revealing your darkness, you will never experience healing and change.
2. The Living Life Bible Study series trains the intellect. Emotions that do not stem from the gospel is only temporary. Emotions will falter and be removed by the root, which is why learning through the Bible is essential. When your situations or relationships are falling apart and you are becoming weary of your ministry, what helps you persevere is the power of the gospel which is deeply rooted in your soul. Hence, we are disciplined through systematic, effective bible study classes.
3. The Sunday joint service nurtures the self-will in us. The service is not just an opportunity for God’s grace. It is a time for us to listen to the word of God, react to it emotionally and intellectually, and make commitments to put into action what we have learned. So at the end of every service, we make a weekly commitment on how we should live our lives.
I hope that this year, there are many of us at Crystal Church who decide to live as Christ's disciples.
