I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Sydney Crystal Church for the past year. Many of the fruits we bore would not have been possible without God’s grace and everyone’s commitment and service.
First of all, I’m grateful that a culture of service has been established. Each and every mokjang has been focusing on Jesus’ desire to save lost souls and bearing many fruits through serving others.
Modern day Christians focus on their own needs and refuse to show commitment, only wanting to be served by others, but seeing our church serve one another and being dedicated in the church and in mokjangs has made me realize what it means to be a selfless Christian. And it also makes me extremely pleased as the head pastor to hear positive stories about our church from those around us.
Secondly, I am grateful that we are people-focused rather than ministry-focused. The church does not mature through one person’s achievements, rather we need to cooperate and support one another in order to grow. One lesson I learned through our mistakes in past ministries is that raising up leaders is more important than the ministry itself. I get requests for support from different ministry teams and each time, I try to focus on the leaders and try to support them, rather than focusing on the problem itself. Leaders all go through similar problems and it’s important that we share each other’s burdens and cooperate so that the church can mature as a whole. The new 2-year term limit for ministry leaders we have recently implemented may not be as effective, but it will definitely help us experience ministries together and allow us to share the burdens that come with it which will ultimately train us in becoming better leaders.
Lastly, I am thankful that our Life classes are actively running. It’s been a joy to see not just the ministers leading and teaching classes but also our church members teaching, and our classes have become much stabilized through mokjas and moknyos teaching their own mokwons.
