Appreciating the opportunity to participate in the 77th House church conference
I am currently in Korea attending the 77th House Church Ministers’ Conference that is being held over two days. I’m happy to be coming back to my home country but what I’m really happy about is being able to spend time with ministers with the same ideas and visions. I am extremely grateful to be a part of this year’s conference as I am able to continue learning from great pastors that have ministered for longer than myself. They shared their valuable experiences and ordeals they went through in building a healthy church and their testimonials were priceless.
It was also very touching and uplifting to see how despite being different churches, there were so many pastors who continued to strive to follow Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples” and I saw hope for the church in their support and encouragement of one another.
And I am most grateful for the support the members of Sydney Crystal Church have given me so that I can have a healthy ministry.
To share just a few main things I learned during the conference… the first is the importance of Living Life. Through the author himself, Pastor Choi Young Ki’s lecture of the purpose and intention of Living Life, I became aware of what I lacked in my lectures and my next Living Life class will be much improved and better prepared.
Secondly, I learned about new member registration for house churches and how to help them settle in. The biggest challenge given to me during the conference was in regards to Pastor Kwak Woong’s talk on how his church in Canada operates new member registration procedures.
Lastly, Pastor Park Tae Jin from Somang Church gave a presentation titled “How to coach ministers on house churches in regional meetings” and his talk made me realize that when you look at the big picture of heaven, it’s a great blessing to serve other pastors and their churches rather than simply focusing on the growth of our own church.
