The 463rd house church seminar for lay persons is commencing this Friday, 22nd-24th at Granville. A total of 31 guests from 11 churches from countries in Oceania will be attending including 9 from NZ, 6 from Melbourne, 9 from Brisbane, and 7 from Sydney. The age groups of this year’s participants are relatively high compared to last year’s, with the majority being in their 50’s. The pastors of the churches in which the guests are from are hoping to transition into a house church, or to make positive changes in their church.
Our church is also doing our best to prepare for the seminar. Many of us are dedicating our personal time and skills to help the church make necessary repairs, and also providing financial support to pay for flights for guests who are unable to afford their trips to Sydney. Additionally, some of us are preparing testimonials, helping with the services and participating in intercessory prayers and fasting prayers behind the scenes and so on. With everyone doing their part and uniting as one, the house church seminar resembles composite art.
The heart of the house church seminar is revealing your mokjang to others, as the core purpose of the participants’ visiting us is to gain firsthand experience and to learn how mokjangs operate. One of the highlights of last year’s seminar was also the mokjang visits and the hospitality demonstrated by our mokjas and moknyos. Many mokjas are providing accommodation to the guests despite their difficult circumstances- many of them have two or three children, some live with flatmates and have to give their master room to the guests, and many also have to take time off work to serve in the seminar. A lot of sacrifice and dedication has been put in, yet we see joy and happiness in their sacrifice. I pray that through the seminar commencing this week, we bring glory to God, we experience the joy of serving others, and the participants go home and fulfill their roles in building their church.
