We have seen consistent attendance at our Wednesday services, and I have noticed more singles attending, possibly because they realize prayer is a crucial part of their lives as immigrants.
One common problem we share at Wednesday services is child care. Ideally, we would like to all be together but with the chapel not being big enough for everyone, children are left in the lounge and parents find this situation difficult to maintain.
Recently, we had a separate service for the children during the conference in July and it made me think that this would also be effective at our Wednesday services.
And at our educators meeting this week, we discussed implementing the idea the following Wednesday. Assistant pastor Park was in charge of our first service with the children. Although the idea of running a Sunday school for our children during the Wednesday service is great, realistically, it’s a tough job for one person to handle. We need everyone to participate by praying for the next generation. I would like to ask those of you who have passion for the next generation to volunteer during our Wednesday services, and I personally think it would be especially great for men to volunteer. And if we are still short of volunteer teachers, another option is for the parents of the children to alternate in caring for the children. Assistant pastor Park will be in charge of the Wednesday service Sunday school and will provide help and support throughout.
This may be the first Sunday school operated on a Wednesday in all of Korean churches in Sydney, and I anticipate everyone’s participation in making it work.
