          • Mokjang mission fields

The mission strategy of a house church is to ultimately build a church in the mission field. Generally, people would picture a church as a building in which people gather for service, but house churches initially focus on building churches that resemble mokjangs. Missionaries will evangelize one or two local residents and hold a service like a mokjang and teach them ‘Life’ classes. When more people have gathered and there is a need for an actual building, they will then build a church. If people consider a church simply as a building, their priority in planting a church will lie on spending large amounts of money on the construction. This can lead to more money being being invested in the building itself and its facilities and they may miss out on the opportunity to invest money in saving souls.
At Sydney Crystal Church, our mokjangs serve our missionaries by praying. Every week in our mokjang meeting, we pray for our missionaries, and collect donations for them, and the church funds each missionary up to $1,200 (per mokjang) every year. This means, if a mokjang funds $100 a month, the church contributes the same amount of $100 maximum and sends it to our missionaries. Any additional financial support is funded through our mission team.
When selecting a missionary to support, we encourage every mokjang to choose one that understands the house church. This is because missionaries who are not familiar with the house church system may put more focus on financial support which can put pressure on the sponsoring mokjangs.
Our mission team will try and find missionaries who are faithful and understand the house church. And by providing financial and prayer support to missionaries whose primary goal is to save souls and plant churches, missionary churches will continue to stand strong.
