What is God trying to tell you through the preaching conference? For many of us, it would have been an eye-opener to God’s grace. The message was that God allows His grace in our lives and guides us, but at that crucial moment when He wishes to use us, He tests and trains us to be His obedient servants. I prayed for God to fill our church with his overflowing grace and my only focus was on His grace. I was hungry for His love and His comfort, for Him to make a way, and to provide solutions… but I heard God say to me, “hasn’t your life already been filled with grace?”
Just as God did not allow Abraham to only live by His grace but also tested him to become His obedient servant, He tests us also. Hence, in order to be a faithful servant of God, we must not only ‘live by His grace’, but ‘rise beyond it’.
He tests our faith by making us give up whatever we value the most, and to Abraham, it was his son that he had by the grace of God, at age 100. Isaac was his vulnerability, his joy and hope. And to sacrifice him in obedience was like death, but his faith proved him to be a faithful servant of God. This also answers the question, “Why do you allow such despair to your people?”. If you are being tested by God, I pray that you will remember that God is at work molding you into an obedient servant, and overcome your test of faith with submission and trust.
