As the body of Christ and a living organism, the church must continue to grow and develop. And when a church matures, there is tension. The purpose of a house church is not to simply save lost souls but also to make disciples of them. So once a VIP has accepted Jesus, you must do more than just serve them as you had been doing. Unless you teach them about the responsibilities of a Christian and of serving others, they will remain spiritual infants. However, trying to help them grow spiritually can cause them to feel pressured and sometimes they may even refuse to come to church.
There is tension when the pastor and mokjangs have a choice to make with their VIPs- do they take the risk of putting the VIPs under pressure and strive to train them as disciples or do they patiently wait and continue to serve them until they mature.
When the pastor delegates ministry, they also experience tension. The purpose of a house church is to restore the ministry of the pastor and their church members. Hence the pastor delegates a lot of their ministry to others and provides them with opportunities to develop into mature leaders.
In order for Christians to grow into mature leaders, they must be able to lead and take initiatives and through the process, learn from their mistakes within their roles. Giving excessive authority to those who have yet to be prepared for such responsibilities can lead to ministry being poorly done or being abandoned, and again, the pastor will face a predicament in deciding whether to let them learn from their own mistakes or intervene.
Amongst the tension, the principal pastor must make a choice and allow them to grow. Tension is unpleasant but is essential for a well balanced spiritual development. So when a minister or a leader intervenes in your ministry or requests your participation or contribution, it’s essential that you trust and follow your minister without giving up.
