Special Dawn Prayer Service 9
Prayer that Opens the Way to Life
The shadow of death came even to King Hezekiah, who did what was right in God's eyes. But what made King Hezekiah different from other kings was the way he faced death. Unlike other kings, Hezekiah opened his way to life through prayer.
Hezekiah:
1. He turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the Lord
- This expressed his firm determination not to look for another way.
2. He went into a relationship with God and prayed.
- Hezekiah did not treat God like a magic lamp. He had a reverent fear of God.
3. He wept bitterly and prayed earnestly.
- Hezekiah prayed earnestly before the problem of death which he could not resolve
Like Hezekiah, I hope that we can lift up our unsolved problems and prayer points to God as prayers that open the way to life.
Passage - 2 Kings 20:2-3
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
