Daniel conveys to Nebuchadnezzar that although Nebuchadnezzar has received strength that is so great that it even touches the sky, because of his lack of acknowledgement in the sovereignty of God, he will be striped from his position and live with wild animals. God, however, who is compassionate offers Nebuchadnezzar a chance to restore the kingdom by allowing the stump to keep its roots.
Like a stump needs to receive God's supply to grow its bud and flourish, I hope that by turning away from our sins and living in His sovereignty, we will grab hold of the opportunity of restoration.
Passage to read: Daniel 4:19-27
26 The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.
27 Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”
