The Israelites went through a life of wilderness during their Exodus from Egypt. They missed their past lives in Egypt during this tough time of testing. They weren’t able to see the new life that lay before them and resented God and Moses who led them there.
What’s interesting is that the life they missed in Egypt wasn’t all fun and games. They worked very hard as slaves and they forgot about the numerous young Israelite boys that were killed. They were trapped in their thought of the brief fun they had and failed to see the new life God was opening up for them.
Many of us may also be trapped in our past memories before COVID-19. We need the faith to see the new life ahead of us. As we look forward to God working to make today better than yesterday, we await God who will give us a new heart and life.
Passage: Jeremiah 42:13-22
13 “However, if you say, ‘We will not stay in this land,’ and so disobey the Lord your God,
14 and if you say, ‘No, we will go and live in Egypt, where we will not see war or hear the trumpet or be hungry for bread,’
