          • God’s word endures forever

I am reminded of the Bible verse ‘The grass withers and flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever’ (Isaiah 40:8).
When the king of Judah hears about God’s message that He would inflict a disaster on them through Babylon because of their sin, he cut off the scroll and burned it. Some of his people begged him not to burn it, but he didn’t listen.

What burned in the fire was only the scroll.
            God’s words still remain.
Haven’t we also forgotten about God’s words of judgement and condemnation, and only remember His words of blessings?
I believe that His words of judgement are given to me because He hasn’t given up on me and because He loves me and therefore I will keep them in my heart.

            Passage: Jeremiah 36:20~32

22 It was the ninth month and the king was sitting in the winter apartment, with a fire burning in the firepot in front of him.
23 Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.
24 The king and all his attendants who heard all these words showed no fear, nor did they tear their clothes.
