Moses has the Promised Land in front of him but is unable to set foot in it.
Moses tells the Israelites who will enter the land and receive God’s blessings, not to commit sin of worshiping idols, but to seek God with all their heart and to return to God and listen to His words.
He tells them that if they do, God who is merciful will not abandon or destroy them.
We must teach the next generation to obey God’s words but also what to do when they fail to do so. We must teach them to turn from sin and seek God’s forgiveness, and to return to God. Only then will our children experience the faithful God in their lives. One cannot be born again without repentance.
When we see the problems and troubles in our lives, we must see our sinful selves before resenting God or seeking His will.
And we must repent before the Lord.
I meditate on what I need to repent before the Lord today and seek His forgiveness.
Passage: Deuteronomy 4:25~31
28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him.
31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
