Happiness Level
There are two ways we can display our temperature. One is the actual temperature the thermometer points to. Another is the perceived temperature that our body feels. There may be individual differences, but each person feels differently even at the same temperature. To say that living in Sydney seems to be getting colder year after year is more of a perceived temperature than a real one.
I think the same goes regarding our happiness. It seems that how happy you are feeling is more important than happiness itself. For example, person A may not feel very happy even though he has many conditions to be happy. On the other hand, person B can live feeling happy all the time despite objectively having nothing, is not well-educated and doesn’t seem to have the conditions to be happy. In this example, it is possible to say that B's perceived happiness is much higher than A's.
You may have heard that a country like Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries on the planet, has the highest levels of happiness. Each year, natural disasters such as floods, kills millions of people, leaving them homeless and lacking food, and their drinking water is infested with various germs. What does it mean that people living in these countries have a high happiness index? It means that happiness does not depend on whether you are living well or not. Rather, it shows that the more well you live, the more unhappy you can be, and the less well you live, the happier you can be. Happiness proves that regardless of external conditions, it depends on whether you feel that happiness or not.
Jesus said, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst” (Luke 17:20-21). Where is the ‘in your midst’ that Jesus is talking about? Heaven begins where those who believe in Jesus and have gained heaven in their hearts gather together.
