          • Reflecting on the past 20 years of ministry

In November, when the purple Jacaranda blossoms, announcing the arrival of spring in Australia, it reminds me of the church’s anniversary. The meaning of the flower Jacaranda is ‘bright happiness’. During the winter, the Jacaranda tree is nothing to look at, but when it blooms bright and pretty purple flowers, it makes the hearts of those who see them happy.

It has been 45 years since this church was established. Thank you to those who laid the foundation for the church here. Personally, it has been 30 years since I started my first ministry as a pastor, and it has been 20 years since I planted and ministered at Sydney Crystal Church. The times I spent with you as a pastor of Sydney Crystal Church for 20 years were very precious and happy times.

Also, I believe that God called me as a pastor and that I have been able to minister in good health until now only by God’s grace and thanks to your obedience and service.

Looking back on the 20 years I have been pastoring the Sydney Crystal Church, the first 10 years was the time we pioneered as a House Church and was a time we experienced struggles while laying down the groundwork for the Church. During this period, there were people who made unseen devotion and sacrifices to lay the foundation stone for the church and the house churches.

The next 10 years was a time when there were lots of fruits of saving lost souls and house churches were firmly established while concentrating on the vision of saving souls and making disciples. I am grateful that now we have become a church that serves as a church that helps and serves the churches in Oceania.

Now, in the next 10 years, I have thought about the direction we must go. I think the coming decade will be a time when the first generation centred church will shift to the next generation. So, I think that the next generation within the house churches should be used for the evangelism of all nations (multi-ethnic) and to carry out missions in the world. And in the current age, where people live up to 100 years, I think that the first generation house churches need to continue in happiness and in good faith so that the senior house churches and ministries can be well established.

I pray that heaven’s blessings will overflow in Sydney Crystal Church and the lives of all its members who are celebrating the 45th anniversary today.
