          • I Decided Not to Say ‘It is Hard’
            by Pastor Jae Jung Kim
As I live my life and also in my ministry, there are certain things that I have personally decided to do. That is, I have decided to no longer think or say ‘it is hard’. Sometimes there are hard times or difficult circumstances, events and environments however, I think it is just another step I have to get through in my life and ministry.
I have seen that when I decide to not think it is difficult, I have the strength to overcome difficulties and hardships. In addition, as I approach hardships with the heart that it is just a step that I need to pass, I feel as though I am not bound by the difficulties or hardships and instead gain freedom. And as a result, I notice my mind becomes strengthened. The way of life changes depending on the type of thoughts we hold in our heart. I feel that circumstances and issues in my life are controlled by the thoughts that are in the centre of my heart.
While living in this world, because we are under the powers of evil that rule this world, we will not avoid suffering and hardships. If we live with thinking ‘it’s hard, it’s difficult’, we will find even small things hard and difficult. Our hearts will become negative about everything, and we will harbour dissatisfaction or resentment. Then, life will become unhappy. When we say ‘it’s hard’ or ‘it’s difficult’, the negative effects will not only affect us, but those around us as well.
So, it is necessary to use bright and positive expressions. Instead of saying things like ‘it’s hard’ or ‘it’s difficult’, try to develop a habit of saying ‘it’s fine’ or ‘it’s alright’ instead. Rather than complaining about small things, it is about finding and expressing gratitude. Even when we pray, we should pray more about something to be thankful for rather than confess that everything is hard and difficult. And even in the midst of difficulties, try to pray in anticipation of what God will do.
Even if we encounter and pass through hard and diffcult roads, when we look forward to what God will do for us and cultivate the habit of positive words and prayers, these will materialise in our lives. That is the power of positive thinkiing and it is also the power of faith. Hard and difficult circumstances or conditions do not make us collapse, bur rather it depends on the kind of thoughts we embrace, confess, and live by. There is power in words and in thoughts. Therefore, we need to anticipate the work God will do, and in faith, make the effort to think and confess. The hardships and difficulties we face may immediately seem huge, but knowing it is a temporary situation that we will pass through, let’s decide not to say ‘it is hard’ and walk the path of life.
