Preparing to live ‘with COVID’
These days, our lives and meeting people have once again become limited. This is because of the fear of spreading the virus at any time to anybody. In the United States, it is estimated that 1 million people are diagnosed with the disease every day. 10 million people in 10 days, 100 million in 100 days… at this rate, it would be strange in the United States to not be affected by the disease. In Australia, the number of confirmed cases has been increasing every day since the decision was made to live ‘with COVID’. It now seems that the era of living ‘with COVID’ has begun.
People also seem to not want to go back to doing nothing again. Church worship services and house churches cannot continue to only be held online forever. This is because, if the gathering is online, it is impossible to gather for a long time. I think we need to actively conduct online and offline activities while trying to promote “all-line” gatherings. I hope that for those who have no choice but to participate online, that they will do their best to worship online, and if you are participating offline, please check that you are not unwell, wear a mask, sanitise your hands, use the QR codes, and keep your social distance.
For now, in order to control the number of people who will attend the worship service offline, we will be limiting the number of attendees to those that have registered to attend. If you wish to attend the Sunday worship service, please let your shepherd know and your shepherd can register you on the Sydney Crystal Church website. For shepherds, please try to give priority to those who would be experiencing difficulty if worshipping alone and those in need of spiritual help.
I think house church meetings can be held offline if there are no confirmed people or close contacts. If you unable to gather together due to a confirmed case, or close-contact, please hold the house church actively online.
“Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap” (Ecclesiastes 11:4).
