At the last Oceania Mokjang leaders retreat, Pastor Kim Jinsu spoke to us about ‘the secret to a successful mokjang’. I have summarised the main points as I thought it would be helpful to share it with you. What we first must know is that there are imitation mokjangs of ones that do well.
First, many people come to the mokjang, but disciples are not made.
Secondly, people come to the gatherings but there is no one to receive Jesus.
Thirdly, the mokjang isn’t willing to multiply.
Fourthly, the mokjang does not follow the rules but still does well.
Lastly, they have a bad relationship with the pastor but the mokjang still does well.
There are three things to a successful mokjang.
First, if someone who isn’t likely to believe in Jesus attends the mokjang and believes in Jesus, the mokjang is doing well.
Secondly, if a mokjang member that isn’t likely to change starts changing through the mokjang, it’s doing well.
Thirdly, if mokjang members all enjoy coming to the gathering, it is doing well.
Mokjang leaders that serve such mokjangs are happy leaders. Not only are they happy, the members are also happy. And of course it makes me as a pastor very happy. It is not only the efforts of the mokjang leaders that make a mokjang do well. The members, as co-workers of the leaders also play an important role.
