Worshipping the best we can in every circumstance…
It has now been 11 weeks since we started our online Sunday worship service. As we become accustomed to the online service, I feel that we need to examine our worship. Most of us are participating well in the service but I believe there are some of us who are not worshipping as we would at church.
Having a thirst for worship is a living image of a Christian. If we are unable to worship for whatever reason, that may very well be our true image as a believer. And it may also be the image of a habitual religious person who is unable to truly meet God.
Saints who have received salvation must worship at their best in every circumstance. And it is possible when we know who we are worshipping. When we don’t realise the receiver of our worship, we ourselves become the subject of worship and we will worship the wrong way to fulfill our satisfaction.
If we think the worship service does not suit us, we will have the wrong attitude towards it or give it up altogether. God seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) And He rewards those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) If we worship knowing this about God, we will be worshipping at our best in any situation.
In order to worship the best we can in all circumstances, our hearts and bodies must be ready. If we have a heart to give our utmost best but are still in our pajamas or are eating during worship, we are not worshippers but spectators.
We also need to dedicate our time in order worship at our best. We must come online on time, concentrate, and not leave during service. It is also not right for us to either only listen to praise and worship or only the sermon.
Thankfully, the Australian government has announced that starting next Sunday, up to 50 people are permitted to gather at church, which means we can have both offline and online services. More details will be announced later in the week.
