In verse 14 of today’s passage, the Message Bible says this.
“Repeat it to the people of God, as this is an essential matter. Warn people before God so that they don’t nitpick under the name of faith. It only gnaws at your faith, exhausting everyone.”
Paul advises Timothy about avoiding unnecessary quarrels within the Church.
This is because quarrels only gnaw away our faith, exhausting everyone.
Therefore, we must always be spiritually awake, avoiding quarrels, and striving to show faith through our words and lives.

14 Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
