Special dawn prayer service 7: Joy is not dependent on circumstances.
Joy is the Spirit’s gift from within. The Spirit allows us to overflow with joy regardless of our circumstances.
But we can also lose joy. When we don’t focus on the Lord but on our circumstances or pain, the joy the Spirit has given us can wither. We can sustain joy through our relationship with God. Finding joy in God is our strength.
Passage: 1 Thessalonians 1:6
“You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.”
