True repentance is one where changes in action follow
Repentance is not only confessing our wrongdoings and calling out to the Lord, but it is something that comes with changes in our actions in order to fix our wrongs.
God finally sent Jephthah to save the Israelites when they got rid of their foreign gods and started serving the Lord.
If we are repeatedly doing the wrong thing and repenting habitually, I hope that we can be like the Israelites who got rid of their foreign idols and looked at the Lord, by putting down our sins and looking at the Lord.
Passage: Judges 10:10-18
13 But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.
14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”
15 But the Israelites said to the Lord, “We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now.”
16 Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the Lord. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer.
