Before Joshua dies, he gathers the Israelites and pleads them to serve and follow only God instead of the foreign gods. And after Joshua dies the Israelites seek God and follow His lead just like Joshua had done, and with God’s aid they become victorious in the battle of conquering Canaan.
The reason why the Israelites could win the battle was because they kept the promise of only serving God that they made with Joshua, not because of their skills.
Let’s not turn our lives into the times of the Book of Judges that we call the ‘Dark Age’ but hold onto God’s promise till the end, serve God only and go after His voice as we live.

1. After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, “Who of us is to go up first to fight against the Canaanites?”
2 The Lord answered, “Judah shall go up; I have given the land into their hands.”
