The word atonement means to pay the price on your behalf. We could not pay the price on our own for the sins that took place in our life and eternal life.
But Jesus paid the price as a ransom on the cross for our sins. Now anyone can receive forgiveness of sins and salvation through the name of Jesus. Those who realize the grace of redemption will live their lives with the Lord as their Savior and Lord.
Passage to read: Exodus 30:1-16
11 Then the Lord said to Moses,
12 “When you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the Lord a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague will come on them when you number them.
16 Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the Lord, making atonement for your lives.”
