As the Israelites increased in number, the king of Egypt ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill the baby if it was a boy.
The midwives, however, feared God and did not follow the king's commands but kept the babies alive. The midwives who knew that God was greater than the Egyptian king experienced God's kindness and the people grew in number because they feared God.
When we live, there are times when we contemplate between the worldly ways that God is not pleased with and God's will. It may seem like the ways of this world are more comfortable and we can profit from these courses of action. However, when we know the God who is greater than the world and follow Him, God's kindness and grace that is greater than that of the gains from this world start to appear in our lives.
Passage to read: Exodus 1:15-22
15 The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah,
16 “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.”
17 The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live.
